Vid Studio is a personal tool that runs on its owner's own computer. It makes short videos and, when the owner asks it to, uploads them to the owner's own YouTube channel. It is not a hosted service and has no server that collects data from anyone.
What Google data Vid Studio uses
When the owner connects a YouTube channel, Vid Studio asks Google for permission to:
- Upload videos (
youtube.upload) — to publish the videos the owner made, with their title, description, tags and cover picture; - Read the channel (
youtube.readonly) — to show the channel name and the views and likes of the uploaded videos; - Manage the uploaded videos (
youtube.force-ssl) — only when the owner presses “Publish now” or “Delete from YouTube” for a video Vid Studio uploaded: to make that private video public or to delete it. Vid Studio never changes or deletes any other video; - Read YouTube Analytics (
yt-analytics.readonly,yt-analytics-monetary.readonly) — to show the owner their own views, watch time, subscribers and, once the channel is monetized, revenue.
Where the data is kept
The sign-in tokens and the statistics are stored only in files on the owner's computer. They are never sent to the developer or to any third party, never sold, and never used for advertising. Data is sent only to Google's own APIs, to do what the owner asked.
Vid Studio accounts
To sign in to Vid Studio itself you create an account with your e-mail and a password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash. Your e-mail is used to sign you in and to manage your account.
If, and only if, you tick “Send me news, tips and offers” when you sign up (or later on the My account page), your e-mail and the date you agreed are added to the mailing list for news and offers about Vid Studio. The box is not ticked by default and is not required to use Vid Studio. You can untick it at any time on the My account page or use the unsubscribe link in any e-mail. Your e-mail is never sold or given to third parties for their own marketing.
So that these e-mails are useful to you, the mailing list also keeps a short summary of how you use Vid Studio: the names and topics of your channels, how many videos you made and uploaded, which platforms you connected and posted to, and whether the daily autopilot and Telegram alerts are on. It never includes data received from Google or YouTube APIs (views, subscribers, revenue or anything else).
When you create an account Vid Studio also notes where you came from (the ref or utm_
tag of the link you used, and the site that linked to it) and, each time you sign in, your browser's time zone and
language. There is no location tracking and no IP lookup. If you unsubscribe you may tell us why; that answer is
optional and is only counted in the Studio's own statistics. Your account also shows your plan (free, trial or
pro); there are no payments in Vid Studio yet.
Limited Use
Vid Studio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Vid Studio also uses the YouTube API Services and is bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
How to remove access
Press Log out on the Accounts page of Vid Studio to delete the stored tokens, and revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the Vid Studio folder deletes all data it stored.
